Live music will return to Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular. On Thursday, November 17, Radio City Entertainment and the musicians union came to a tentative agreement which will have the musicians back in the orchestra pit by the Friday 2:30pm show, according to the Associated Press.
The musicians, members of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, walked out on November 2, the day before the show was to officially begin its season. The Christmas Spectacular has been going on with canned music ever since. The union filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against Cablevision, Radio City's owner. On November 14, Mayor Michael Bloomberg stepped in, inviting both sides to Gracie Mansion to begin negotiations with former Schools Chancellor Frank Macchiarola serving as a mediator.
